Leading email service providers now mandate that all email senders adhere to updated sending guidelines to guarantee email deliverability. Here’s how WPMU DEV’s email offerings simplify compliance and help ensure your emails are delivered securely…
If you’re unfamiliar with these new guidelines, the detailed guide on new email sending requirements provides insights into SPF, DKIM, and DMARC protocols, and their implications for your business.
This article illustrates how your business can smoothly align with the new regulations using WPMU DEV’s Webmail or Email Hosting solutions.
We will discuss:
WPMU DEV’s Email Services Are Fully Compliant
As indicated in this article, conducting a domain check on wpmudev.com via email verification tools reveals that WPMU DEV adheres to all compliance standards set by email service providers for delivering emails.

This is excellent news for your business!
Why?
Let’s start with …
Client Reports and Notifications
The SPF, DKIM, and DMARC policies of WPMU DEV are fully aligned with the strict requirements set by major email service providers.
This assures that all client reports and notifications generated by your Hub, sent from WPMU DEV’s email servers, including Uptime monitor reports, should effortlessly reach the inboxes of your intended recipients.

Webmail and Email Hosting
Not only will all reports and notifications sent on your behalf successfully reach your clients, but if you utilize or resell our Webmail or Email Hosting services, so will the emails that you send to your clients, and those sent by your clients.
Moreover, all essential email compliance is inherently integrated into our Webmail and email hosting services, meaning you don’t have to configure anything for regular emailing.
Let’s examine more closely…
For this example, we’ll consider Webmail, assuming your domain is hosted on WPMU DEV’s servers or that you are managing your DNS records with us.
Upon setting up Webmail and configuring your email domain, you will find that our system automatically generates and adds SPF and DKIM records to your domain’s DNS.

Let’s test this by sending an email from our Webmail account to a Gmail address.
First, log into Webmail…

Next, create a message and send it to a Gmail account.

Once the email lands in your inbox, check your Gmail account .

You can inspect the Internet header for the email by opening it, clicking on the vertical ellipsis icon, and selecting the Show original option from the dropdown.

You can see that the email dispatched from the Webmail account meets SPF and DKIM requirements.

Furthermore, configuring an email address through Webmail or our hosted email service necessitates using Transport Layer Security (TLS), thereby ensuring your emails meet this requirement automatically!
If you or your clients utilize Webmail or our hosted email services for routine business emails, there’s no need for you to worry about setting up DMARC for your domain.
Bulk Emailing
In accordance with the stipulations from Google and Yahoo, if you intend to send 5,000 emails or more, you must implement a valid DMARC policy.
Adding DNS Records For 3rd-Party Email Services
For those currently hosting an email domain with WPMU DEV intended for bulk sending (reaching over 5,000 users per day), reach out to your bulk sending provider for guidance on adding the necessary records for compliance.
For instance, suppose you dispatch email newsletters using a domain’s DNS managed through WPMU DEV and an email marketing provider like Mailchimp, GetResponse, Sender, HubSpot, etc.
In this scenario, we will utilize Aweber for a domain’s DNS managed with WPMU DEV which requires authentication.
To authenticate the domain, locate their setup instructions. In Aweber’s case, a notification appears in the user account dashboard linking to their Domain Authentication page.

To authenticate DKIM, Aweber requests adding specific new CNAME records to the domain’s DNS entries.
Consequently, the initial step is to copy the Name (Host) record to your clipboard…

Next, navigate to The Hub > Domains and find your domain…

Select the vertical ellipsis next to the domain and click Manage DNS.

On the DNS Records screen, click on Add Record.

From the Record type dropdown, select CNAME and paste the Hostname record from your clipboard.
Return to your email service provider’s page, copy the Value code to your clipboard, and paste it into the Alias field, then click the Add button.

Repeat this procedure until all necessary records from your service provider are incorporated into your domain’s DNS management area.

Should a DMARC policy be necessary, follow the same process of copying and pasting as described for adding DKIM records above.
It is important to note that in Aweber’s situation, they require a new TXT record for establishing a DMARC policy, not a CNAME.

Create a new TXT record in The Hub’s DNS management area and paste the content received into both the Hostname and Value fields. Click Add when finished.

You will notice that the new record is now listed in the Records section.

Return to your service provider’s dashboard and refresh the settings to confirm your domain’s records.
