Read MoreIf you’ve checked Instagram lately, you’re surely aware that Reels are a significant focus for the platform. This format for short videos has swiftly gained popularity among both brands and users.
The positive aspect is that you can incorporate Instagram hashtags into Reels just as you would in regular posts, enhancing visibility, reach, and interaction.
In this article, you’ll discover a curated selection of the best Instagram Reel hashtags across various categories including travel, fitness, food, fashion, and more. Additionally, we’ll discuss the advantages of utilizing Reel hashtags on Instagram and provide tips for identifying the most effective hashtags for your brand.
Utilizing hashtags can do much more than simply attract a larger audience to your content. They serve as excellent targeting and analytic instruments as well. Here are three advantages of using Instagram Reel hashtags for your business:
Hashtags can help present your content to a wider audience, including users who may not be following you on Instagram. Including them in Reels yields the same benefits as placing hashtags in regular posts, making it easier for individuals interested in your topics or themes to locate your videos.

This ultimately leads to greater engagement in terms of likes, comments, and shares—the ultimate goal of social media effectiveness. Take it further by interacting with users who engage with your hashtags to fortify your brand’s connection with its audience.
Moreover, by keeping an eye on trending hashtags and integrating them into your posts, you can help your content ride the wave of current events, dialogues, and Instagram trends. This not only boosts your visibility but also solidifies your brand’s image as relevant and contemporary.
Your videos could potentially go viral, but not all Instagram users are likely to be your customers. By adding hashtags to Reels, you can target niche groups and specific demographics that are more likely to be interested in your offerings.
This approach will draw more qualified leads and increase visibility among your target audience, thereby enhancing your business’s ROI.
Examining the performance of various hashtags can yield valuable insights into what resonates most with your audience.
By tracking Instagram metrics such as reach and engagement for Reels associated with specific hashtags, you can fine-tune your strategy and gain a deeper understanding of consumer preferences and behaviors.
Sprout Social’s Hashtag Tracking tools can assist you in identifying which hashtags perform best in your Instagram strategy. You can monitor your most frequently used and top-performing hashtags or personally add significant hashtags to keep an eye on their effectiveness.

You understand the value of utilizing Reel hashtags on Instagram—but what’s the method for finding the right ones? Adhere to the best practices below to incorporate hashtags that are pertinent to your brand and deeply resonate with your audience.
Before jotting down hashtags, it’s essential to have a clear understanding of your target audience. What characteristics define your ideal buyer? Which accounts do they follow on Instagram? What types of content do they prefer to engage with?
Delve into original research and analytics to uncover the key traits of your potential customers. Take note of the hashtags featured in Reels that these individuals engage with the most.
Subsequently, leverage these insights to shape your own hashtag strategy. Include pertinent hashtags in your Reels that align with the niches and interests of your target demographic.
Keep in mind—you are a business generating content to meet specific objectives, be it brand recognition, lead generation, or sales. Aiming for everyone will not yield significant outcomes. Prioritizing users who fit your buyer personas will.
Observing your competitors’ content can inspire you to formulate hashtag ideas for your own Reels. Look for videos that receive the highest engagement or views. Which hashtags are they employing? How many hashtags do they incorporate in their videos? Are they targeting niche keywords or broader hashtags?
Simplify this process using Instagram competitor reports.
Sprout’s competitive analysis features can support you in this endeavor. Our tool lets you track competitor posts, engagement rates, the hashtags they use, and more. Better still, you can compare their metrics with yours to establish benchmarks and set realistic objectives.

Utilize competitor analysis to spark your own content and hashtags. However, refrain from merely copying hashtags from other accounts and Reels—continue experimenting. You may come across some highly engaging hashtags that your competitors might be overlooking.
Making use of existing hashtags is beneficial—but have you considered developing your own hashtag?
Leveraging branded hashtags in Reels and posts can assist you in growing brand awareness and nurturing a sense of community among your followers. Branded hashtags are also among the most effective means to motivate user-generated content.
For instance, Canva initiated a branded hashtag challenge to encourage creators to utilize the software and share their designs:

Seeking inspiration? Below is an extensive list of over 250 top hashtags across various sectors such as fashion, travel, fitness, and food. Additionally, we’ve compiled trending hashtags for viral and humorous Reels—all pertinent to brands and marketers.
Keep in mind, trends can evolve quickly, so always stay alert for new and emerging hashtags.
Incorporating hashtags into your Instagram Reels should come easily. Hashtags are the simplest method to categorize your content, enhance visibility, and improve interaction on your videos.
However, what holds more significance is choosing the appropriate hashtags. You require keywords that align with your brand while addressing the needs and interests of your target audience. Only then can you anticipate witnessing growth and outcomes from your social media activities.
This is where hashtag analytics can be beneficial. Track your most-used and top-performing hashtags, along with competitor hashtags and trending keywords that resonate with your audience. Employ the data to steer your Instagram strategy and observe a surge in views and engagement on your content.

Throughout our collaboration over eight years, those were among the most significant remarks made by Justyn Howard, Sprout’s co-founder, ex-CEO, and current executive chair. The realization that Justyn recognized the same passion, vision, and tenacity shared by Sprout Social’s founding team was an outstanding acknowledgment and intensified my motivation to perform for our team.

The most impactful? When Justyn expressed his wish for me to succeed him as CEO and conveyed his trust and confidence that I was the right individual to guide Sprout into the next phase of growth.
In the past 14 years, Sprout has marked significant milestones and plenty of reasons to celebrate. However, what I cherish most about Sprout is our forward-looking approach, striving for continual improvement—to provide more value for our customers, foster greater growth for our employees, and lead our industry. We hold true to the belief that “Better, Better, Never Best”—our best achievements always lie ahead.
As I contemplate my transition into the role of Sprout’s CEO, I wanted to share insights about my journey here, how we aim to fulfill our vision, and my enthusiasm for the future.
In moments like this, you have the opportunity to reflect and express gratitude for the many experiences that contribute to your current position.
For me, it begins with a first-generation immigrant background and the fortune of being nurtured by exceptionally hardworking and values-driven parents. With a father who worked as a technologist (from night shifts watching over servers to roles of CIO and COO) and a mother who operated a daycare as an early childhood educator, I was instilled with a strong set of values. Their approach—demanding yet supportive—was vital in shaping me into a leader who holds high standards and understands the necessity of winning both the hearts and minds of a team. The unwavering support and love from my wife and two daughters (ringing the bell with them during Sprout’s IPO remains one of my life’s greatest moments) completed this incredible support system that has enabled me to excel.

From this strong familial base, a series of choices, dedication, remarkable teammates and mentors, fortunate timing, and luck led me to this juncture.
A pivotal choice early in my career (more luck than strategy) was joining Salesforce in 2006. Over the subsequent decade, I had remarkable opportunities to take on diverse roles, establishing new offices and managing newly acquired products—all while observing and learning from Marc Benioff and an array of incredible leaders throughout the journey.
In early 2016, I received a call from Justyn inviting me to dinner, where I discovered we lived in the same neighborhood, our children played at the same park, we were both SaaS enthusiasts driven by a competitive spirit, and our personalities and skills complemented each other perfectly. That dinner was a turning point in my life.

As I learned more about Sprout’s culture and the remarkable product they had developed, I began to notice the same outstanding qualities I had seen in Salesforce’s early days. It was a company aiming to establish itself as the premier workplace and best venue for customers, believing that the finest salesperson was the product itself, possessing a daring vision to transform their industry while creating a new category, and addressing vast customer needs that were inadequately met.
I realized I would always regret not joining the Sprout team, so I made the leap.
In the ensuing months and years, Justyn and I collaborated to grow Sprout from a startup with under $30 million in annual revenue to a publicly traded entity surpassing $385 million. We achieved this by cultivating a high-performance culture, featuring the #1 best product in software, supported by an outstanding team.
Over the past eight years, Justyn has been generous with opportunities, allowing me to assist him in fundraising, acquisitions, executive recruitment, board recruitment, an IPO, 19 earnings calls, and much more! Our complementary strengths have driven us to this point and will carry us forward.
The crucial lesson I learned during my tenure as Sprout’s President was the necessity of focus. Focus has been the driving force behind our success, and it’s an area where many competitors have stumbled. Since day one, Sprout has remained intensely focused on social media and the potential it offers to brands and industries. Social media and insights can propel businesses to the pinnacle of their sectors, with Sprout as the partner they require to harness this potential.

With our focus on social media sharper than ever, I plan to emphasize these three essential areas as CEO:
With more than half the global population engaged in social media, it’s evident that it has permeated our personal and professional spheres. It stands as the foremost channel for news and product discovery, not to mention Gen Z’s preferred platform for customer support. It embodies the voice of culture, backed by trillions of data points that can yield transformative insights. And it operates at an unprecedented speed and scale. Can you envision any brand thriving without a strategy and reliable platform to manage it all?
This is why our possibilities are boundless. We’ve constructed a platform that serves every sector (including B2B, B2C, and B2B2C), accommodates every company size (from small enterprises to global corporations), spans various applications (i.e., sales, marketing, product, strategy), and enjoys partnerships with leaders like Meta, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Google, Salesforce, and many more. We have steadfastly maintained our focus on social media because it remains an unresolved dilemma for brands, and we are uniquely equipped to tackle it. Our unwavering dedication and prowess in social, coupled with our award-winning solutions and skilled team, position us to achieve extraordinary outcomes. The success stories of our clients, such as McDonald’s, Honda, Autodesk, Procter & Gamble, The Department of Energy, and Universal Pictures, exemplify this.
As I assume the role of CEO, I am more assured than ever in Sprout’s capability to surpass expectations for our customers and team while defining our market. It promises to be an exhilarating journey, and I eagerly anticipate keeping you informed as we achieve more thrilling milestones along the way.
