How valuable( relatively) are outside links to a site’s home page( for example, as a generic link in a user testimonial on the outside site) vs. in-content connects on the outside site to specific pages on a site? I’m reading through some of ahref’s blog articles, and trying to understand whether they’re talking about number of links to a specific page or links to the domain in entirety when they build commentaries like “this is a competitive keyword, it might take 80 backlinks to rank a page for it”.
I think that backlinks to the root domain( https :// example.com) would help increase domain authority, which helps individual pages; and links to individual pages might have less effect on the site’s domain authority, but be more helpful for the individual page’s rank? If you had someone offer a link to your site on flexible words, would you choose a link to deep content or a general link to the site?
