Before beginning, ensure you have completed the necessary prerequisite step.
Before you can resell domains, you need to set up your Clients & Billing account in The Hub.
This step is covered fully in our documentation and in this tutorial: How To Set Up Clients & Billing.
Have you completed this step?
Fantastic! Let’s demonstrate how simple and effortless it is to set up Domain Reseller…
Add Domains and Set Pricing
Navigate to The Hub, select Reseller, then Domain Reseller, and click on the “+Add TLDs” button.

This action will open the Add TLDs interface, allowing you to choose the top-level domains (TLDs) you wish to offer for resale and establish the retail prices for your domain names.

Currently, you have the ability to resell over 250 top-level domains (TLDs) with your own branding, with additional options anticipated in the near future.
After selecting TLDs, the next step is to add a markup (i.e. your profit) to your wholesale domain pricing across all domains.
There are two methods for determining the markup price.
- Indicate a percentage value: For instance, if you input “10”, it will result in a 10% markup on the cost of all domains. Therefore, a domain that you purchase for US$20 will be sold to your customers at US$22.
- Set a fixed price markup (in USD): With this option selected, setting a value of “10” will increase the price of all domains by USD$10, so a domain that costs you US$20 to buy will retail to your clients at US$30.
Note: After setting a global markup price, you can edit the markup for individual TLDs, as we’ll show you later.
After selecting your TLDs and setting your global markup price, click on the Add TLDs button to save your settings.

Your selected TLDs will be automatically configured and display in The Hub’s Domain Reseller tab.

Edit Domain Details
During the initial setup, the reseller adds a universal markup to domains. Additionally, you have the option to apply markups to individual domains or in bulk.
To edit an individual domain’s markup value, click on the ellipsis icon next to the domain and select Update TLD.

Indicate the percentage or dollar amount of the markup for the chosen domain and select the Update TLD button. This change will only apply to the selected domain and will not impact any other domains in your account.

To modify the markup for several domains at once, select the domains you want to change by checking their respective boxes and then click on Update TLDs. (Note: To select or deselect all domains at once, click on the checkbox next to Update TLDs).

Choose multiple domains for editing by selecting their corresponding checkboxes. Determine the percentage or dollar amount of the markup for all chosen domains and select the Update TLDs button to modify their pricing.

Alternatively, you have the option to delete TLDs from your account one at a time or in larger quantities. This can be done by clicking on the three-dot icon next to a single domain, or by choosing multiple domains and selecting the Delete TLDs option.

A notification message will appear asking you to confirm your deletion.
Kindly take note of the following information:
- Clicking Delete will remove the selected domains from your account. This will prevent new clients from buying the deleted TLDs. Any existing domains that have already been purchased with the deleted TLDs will remain intact, but your clients won’t be able to renew them.
- Press the Cancel button to stop the removal process and keep all the chosen domains in your account.

Domain Reseller also offers advanced editing options such as a search filter that allows you to easily find domain extensions.

You also have the option to include additional top-level domains (TLDs) to your account by selecting the “+ Add TLDs” button.

This feature is useful if new TLDs are introduced later to Reseller, or if you have not selected all available domains during your initial Domain Reseller setup.
If the “+ Add TLDs” button appears to be gray, it indicates that all possible TLDs have been included in your Domain Reseller account.

Now that you have a better understanding of how to add and edit domains, let’s look at how to configure Domain Reseller settings.
Set up settings for reselling domains
After adding domains and specifying their markup, head over to the Reseller > Settings tab to configure your Domain Reseller settings.

Here’s a brief overview of each setting:
Default Client Role
This area allows you to set the default role for clients that will be applied when they buy domains.

Note: Go to The Hub > Clients & Billings > Roles to set up and configure roles for your clients. For more information see our documentation: Client Roles.
Round Off Prices
Choose how many decimal places you want to round to when showing the prices for domain TLDs.

Taxes
The tax rates you select here will be automatically added to the total price of the domain purchase during checkout.

Create tax rates by going to the Taxes section in The Hub > Clients & Billing area to select the appropriate taxes.

Once you have included TLDs in Domain Reseller and set up your domain pricing and settings, it’s now time to enable these for sale.
Make Domains Available For Purchase
Clients can conveniently buy domains straight from your website, all branded under your own name, with the help of Reseller.
Your clients will not be directed away to a third-party payment processor to complete their purchase. Everything is handled on your site from start to finish using our white label client portal plugin, The Hub Client.
If you need help setting up a client portal on your site using The Hub Client, see this tutorial: How To Create A Fully-Branded, Customized Client Portal With WPMU DEV
Once you have completed the installation and configuration process for The Hub Client on your primary website, proceed to the Reseller section located within The Hub Client on your dashboard menu.

Next, click on the Domain Reseller tab.
The screen for reselling domains will show a list of all the domain names and their respective price increases that you have established in The Hub. It will also provide links to support, documentation, and a customizable widget that enables you to integrate domain reselling on your website.

To set up the domains widget, go to the Domain Reseller page, scroll down and select the Customize domain widget option.

The adjustable widget gives you the option to modify the colors of the background, labels, and buttons for the domain table on your website.

The Hub Client generates a shortcode and a Domain Reseller Gutenberg block that lets you easily embed the widget anywhere on your site.

In the screenshot below, you can see how we have added the widget to a page using the Domain Reseller block and the block’s available settings.

Once completed, go ahead and post your widget, then head over to your page to see and try out your new live feature.

Type in a domain name into the search field and click on the Search Domain button to view the results your clients will see when visiting your site.

Here is a nifty little feature of the Domain Reseller widget:
In the event that a customer enters a domain name along with its Top-Level Domain extension (for example, exampledomain.com), the resulting page will show the phrase (Exact Match) beside the domain if it is not already taken.

After searching for available domain names and clicking on the Buy Now button, your client will be asked to create an account on your client portal site or log into an existing account.

The client will then be stepped through the domain registration process … all inside your client portal!
First, they will be asked to enter their Registrant Information details.

They will then be directed to the payment page where they will be prompted to finalize their transaction.

Manage Client Domains
Automation continues even after clients have successfully registered and purchased domains from your site.
Every time a domain is purchased, you will receive an automatic email notification.

Your white label client portal is where you can access and manage the domains you have purchased. Clients can also use this portal to pay for domain renewals and add new domains to their account.
Note: If domains are not set to auto renew, your clients will automatically receive domain expiry reminders 90, 60, and 30 days before the expiry date.
The Clients & Billing section in The Hub allows you to view all the purchase information for your clients.

Your customers can now easily search for and purchase domains directly from your website or client portal, with your own branding and at your own pricing, thanks to the domain reseller setup. The entire process is fully automated from beginning to end!
Refer to our documentation section for detailed step-by-step instructions on setting up and using the Clients & Billing tool, The Hub Client plugin, and all of Domain Reseller’s features.
Additionally, take a look at our tutorials for Resellers for useful advice and more details.
Upcoming Additional Features
In addition to reselling domains, hosting, and templates directly on your website through your white-label client portal, we are working on a host of other great features that Resellers will soon have access to.
Currently, when purchasing a domain and hosting, customers must complete two separate transactions. However, in the near future, customers will have the option to add a domain to their hosting purchase (or vice versa) in a single checkout process. This will automatically link and configure everything for them, including DNS setup, providing a smooth and effortless experience for you.
We are currently developing new features for the Reseller platform which include:
- Country-specific TLDs
- Domain Transfers
- Webmail
- A fully integrated ticketing system for the client portal that will streamline the way you communicate with your reseller clients and assist them.

Are you a web development or agency business looking to increase your profits? One way to do so is by setting up a domain reseller business. This guide will walk you through the steps to get started and provide tips for success.
First, let’s define what a domain reseller business is. A domain reseller is a company or individual that purchases domain names in bulk from a domain registrar and then sells them to customers at a markup. This can be a lucrative business as domain names are in high demand and can be sold for a profit.
To get started, you will need to choose a domain registrar to partner with. Look for a registrar that offers competitive pricing, a user-friendly platform, and excellent customer support. Some popular options include GoDaddy, Namecheap, and Enom.
Once you have chosen a registrar, you will need to sign up for their reseller program. This typically involves filling out an application and paying a fee. The fee may be a one-time payment or a recurring monthly or annual fee.
Next, you will need to set up your own website or platform to sell the domain names. This can be done through a website builder or by hiring a web developer to create a custom site. Make sure your site is easy to navigate and includes a search function for customers to find available domain names.
Now it’s time to start marketing your domain reseller business. Utilize social media, email marketing, and search engine optimization to attract customers. Consider offering promotions or discounts to entice new customers to make a purchase.
It’s also important to provide excellent customer service to retain customers and encourage repeat business. This includes responding promptly to inquiries and resolving any issues that may arise.
In addition to selling domain names, consider offering additional services such as web hosting, website design, and email hosting. This can increase your profits and provide added value to your customers.
Setting up a domain reseller business can be a profitable addition to your web development or agency business. By following these steps and providing excellent service, you can attract and retain customers and increase your profits.
